Pratik Shah, PhD – Executive Chairman, Thomas, McNerney & Partners
Pratik is a Partner at Thomas, McNerney & Partners. He currently also serves as a board member of Altair Therapeutics, Inc., Cebix, CNS Therapeutics, Inc. and Ocera Therapeutics, Inc. Pratik holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Irvine and both a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Andreas Sommer, PhD – Chief Operating Officer
Andreas Sommer, PhD joins the company following a successful 20-year career as a senior executive within both public and private biotechnology firms where he provided both executive operational and research leadership. Employed by Celtrix Pharmaceuticals, initially as senior Vice President Research and then as that company’s President and CEO, Dr. Sommer led a successful merger with Insmed, Inc. in association with an $80 million financing, leading to a multi-product company which saw its valuation increase from $300 million to over $900 million. Following the merger, as Chief Scientific Officer of Insmed, Dr. Sommer oversaw the NDA submission of Celtrix’s novel and complex recombinant protein Iplex™ to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, resulting in its subsequent marketing approval, as well as four successful new orphan drug applications to the FDA and EMEA. He began his industry career as Vice President, Research and Development for BioGrowth, Inc. Dr. Sommer received his PhD in microbiology from the University of California, Davis.

R. Gary Gilmore, MBA, CMA – Chief Financial Officer
Gary has over 20 years experience in corporate finance including over 15 years as Chief Financial Officer in a variety of industries. Before joining Auspex, he was Chief Financial Officer for Althea Technologies, Inc. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer for Preventsys, Inc. and Holocom Networks. He has also provided extensive management consulting services to Fortune 500 companies and start-up organizations. Gary’s experience includes strategic planning, venture capital fundraising, and design and implementation of systems to manage growth and profitability. Gary has spearheaded the design and implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system at Althea which is supportive to continued growth with appropriate control and reporting efficiencies. He has been recognized by the San Diego business community for his accomplishments as a finalist in the CFO of the year awards in 2007 and 2008.

David Collier, MD - Director, CMEA Capital
David is a Managing Director at CMEA Capital. He currently also serves on the Board of Directors of Arcadia Biosciences, Arcion, Sorbent Therapeutics, and VeraLight. He is a Board Observer at Bayhill Therapeutics. David has an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, an M.B.A. from the Wharton School, and a B.A. in Physics from Wesleyan University.

Sep Sarshar, PhD - Founder & Director, Sloan Biotech Funds
Sep received his PhD From Harvard University under the direction of Professor E. J. Corey. Sep began his pharmaceutical career at Ontogen Corporation (1994-1997) where he discovered and co-invented ONT-093, a P-glycoprotein pump inhibitor currently in Phase II trials, for the reversal of multidrug resistance in cancer patients. While at Pfizer (La Jolla, 1997-2000), Sep continued his research in oncology by focusing on novel anti-angiogenic compounds. Sep was a faculty member at the University of California San Diego and has authored numerous scientific papers and patents.
